Rely+On™ Virkon™ has fewer handling and use constraints than many other disinfectant products and is not classified as harmful or a sensitiser in both powdered form and in-use dilutions, in accordance with EU legislation on the classification and labelling of chemical preparations.
Rely+On™ PeraSafe™ has not yet been specifically tested against the human coronavirus. Our recommendation to help prevent the transfer and spread of the organism from inanimate surfaces would be to use Rely+On™ Virkon™ high level disinfectant at an in-use dilution rate of 1:100.
However, Rely+On™ PeraSafe™ ( 16.2g per litre of water, 10 minutes contact time) does have a full spectrum of virucidal activity for its targeted use as a medical device and instrument disinfectant, in accordance with the European test method EN 14476: 2013+A1: 2015. Therefore, it can be concluded that the virucidal efficacy of Rely+On™ PeraSafe™ would be sufficient to cover the control of human coronavirus .

Currently, the emergence of a novel human coronavirus, temporary named 2019-nCoV, has become a global health concern causing severe respiratory tract infections in humans. Human-to-human transmissions have been described with incubation times between 2-10 days, facilitating its spread via droplets, contaminated hands or surfaces. We therefore reviewed the literature on all available information about the persistence of human and veterinary coronaviruses on inanimate surfaces as well as inactivation strategies with biocidal agents used for chemical disinfection, e.g. in healthcare facilities. The analysis of 22 studies reveals that human coronaviruses such as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) coronavirus, Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) coronavirus or endemic human coronaviruses (HCoV) can persist on inanimate surfaces like metal, glass or plastic for up to 9 days, but can be efficiently inactivated by surface disinfection procedures
